Alden – den norske Hesten

July 19, 2012

2003 we passed by “Den norske Hesten” or “Alden” 10nm W Florö. The shape
of the steep cliffs gave it its name, translated as The Norwegian Horse.
This time the conditions where ideal.

A helpful norwegian sailor recommended us to avoid anchoring and use a
small pier at the NE corner of the bay. A wise guidance we found out next day
with gale force northerly wind with additional violent gusts rolling down the
480m cliff! The wind generator stopped several times due to the wind brake
set at 50kn.

A steep walk to the top took us a little more than an hour but was really worth the effort.
Fantastic views!
